A maternal wellness celebration focused on self-care, Black Joy, health, wellness, and thriving during and after pregnancy. A maternal wellness celebration focused on self-care, Black Joy, health & wellness, and thriving during and after pregnancy. Birthing people of child bearing age along with dads, their partners, and their support networks will speak with maternal health and wellness experts to ask questions and share their concerns on wellness and maternal health impacting Black and brown birthing people. We will celebrate our guests as they gain wellness tips to support a lifestyle focused on self-care, mental health and stress management, and overall health and wellness. Maternal health experts will share self-advocacy tools, to support positive health outcomes, healthy pregnancies, and a healthy postpartum recovery. Session Topics include: Preconception, prenatal and postpartum wellness (w/emphasis on cardiovascular health) Self Care and Black Joy! The effects of toxic stress Mental Health and Substance Use Disorders (importance of screening and treatment before, during and after pregnancy-including bereavement) Birthing options and doula support High Blood Pressure, Diabetes, Obesity, and Depression during and after pregnancy What Black women, dads, and partners should be asking providers. How to self-advocate and probe medical professionals Connecting with your primary care doctor or specialists after pregnancy Postpartum Care Pregnancy during COVID-19 Know Your Rights (respectful care, bodily autonomy,workplace rights) Lactation Resources Dads and partners-we have a session just for YOU on mental health and perinatal mood disorders.
