BOSTON, MA — Rescue crews found the body of a woman who went into the water off Castle Island after the boat she was in crashed into a navigational marker in Boston Harbor early Saturday morning. Seven other boaters were rescued from the water, while the U.S. Coast Guard, Boston police and fire and State police dive teams spent more than nine hours searching for the remaining missing diver. The U.S. Coast Guard said the small boat with eight aboard hit the day marker about 3 a.m. and all passengers were thrown into the water. Crews were able to bring seven of the boaters back to shore, but an eighth person was still missing until she was found about noon, Boston police said according to media reports. WHDH-TV reported that as of about 10 a.m. Boston police were terming the search "a recovery mission." Boston police, Boston fire, Coast Guard and State police dive teams conducted searches of the harbor throughout Saturday morning amid the swift-moving current. The boat — with a hole in its underside — remained capsized in the water Saturday morning. WBZ-AM's Suzanne Sausville reported late Saturday morning that Boston police's homicide unit was leading the investigation into the crash.
