Stock up on your gardening necessities by attending MUFI's Garden Supply Give-Away! Our offerings to the community will include vegetable and herb transplants (tomatoes, peppers, okra, swiss chard, basil etc.), hundreds of varieties of seeds, and plant containers free of charge! Donations are appreciated. Potting soil will be available for $5 per bag. This event will take place in unison with our regular Saturday markets on July 10th and will continue to take place every Saturday until supplies run out. The Michigan Urban Farming Initiative is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that seeks to engage members of the community in sustainable agriculture. We believe that challenges unique to urban communities like Detroit (e.g., vacant land, food security) present a unique opportunity for community-supported agriculture. We hope to empower urban communities by using agriculture as a platform to promote education, sustainability, and community while simultaneously reducing socioeconomic disparity.
