Description

We hope you will join us for a historic fashion show inside the mansion. Your tour ends with a boxed brunch and champagne on the South Lawn. Apparel has long been a symbol of wealth and status. Join us as we examine the evolution of fashion from the Post-Civil War Reconstruction Period to the Progressive Era. We will see how fine fabrics, costly embellishments and the very composition of the clothing spoke to one's class and status. Learn which fashion crazes threatened our eco-system and the physical health of young women and unborn children. How our nation's movement towards Industrialization was reflected in dress silhouettes, hemlines and even hat brims. We hope you enjoy our exhibition of Fashions, Freedoms and how Suffragettes and Socialites brought Social Change.
