Police Investigate Deceased Man Found Outside Manchester Museum

MANCHESTER, NH — Manchester police, fire, and AMR ambulance responded to 159 Ash St. outside the Currier Museum for an unresponsive person on Friday. Fire and EMS were advised at about 9:20 a.m. of an unresponsive male on Beech Street side steps of the museum. Fire and police determined the person was deceased. As crews set up the parking lot for an event originally scheduled for Saturday, Manchester police detectives, and the state medical examiner were on the scene. Manchester police spokesperson Heather Hamel verified a man was found deceased in that area. Hamel said the death does not appear suspicious but remains under investigation. No cause or manner of death will be known until it is released after an autopsy. The MPD call log for the original call at 9:19 a.m. stated potential overdose. Manchester has had multiple people found deceased in outside locations since the beginning of the month. Three people were found dead last week, including one in the Merrimack River and one at the Vine Street parking garage. Late Friday afternoon the Currier Museum announced that a "Block Party scheduled for Saturday would be postponed due to unforeseen circumstances. The new date will be announced shortly." The two largest cities in New Hampshire, Manchester and Nashua are seeing large increases in overdoses over last year's numbers. The statement went on to say, "The Currier Museum of Art will still be open this Saturday, July 17, and we are making gallery admission free of charge as our apology for canceling the Block Party. We will be open from 10 am to 5 pm."
