SOUTHAMPTON, NY — A woman is desperately searching the beach in Southampton after her mother's wedding band slipped off her finger and disappeared in the sand.
Ellen Arthur Kurs first described her plight in a Southampton Patch Neighbor Post:
"I am currently in Southampton for a month-long rental in July, practically on top of Shinnecock Bay," she wrote.
On July 2 or 3, her gold wedding band slipped off her finger and disappeared, Kurs said.
"I have exhaustedly looked in our house but think it might have happened while I was at the bay with my grandchildren. It was my mother Ruth's ring and was inscribed, 'To Ruth, love now and forever, Mort 12/24/50'. My dad had passed 10 months before her and on their double tombstone we had inscribed the same — 'Love now and forever,'" Kurs said.
The ring, she said, has great sentimental value.
"It's a long shot but thought I might as well try here," Kurs wrote.
If you find Kurs' ring, respond to her Neighbor Post here or call/text 917-841-0711.
