Steel Carport/Solar Structure Laborer We are a Steel Construction & Solar Power Contractor who operates and manages projects throughout the United States. Our business is expanding and we are looking to immediately hire (5) experienced Steel Carport/Solar Structure Project Laborers. Qualifications: • At least (1) year experience in construction of steel carports and structures for solar panels. • Able to work as with others and take direction. • Ability to maintain industry standards. • Ability to learn how to read engineering plans is helpful. • Ability to speak English and Spanish is a plus. • Ability to lift 50+ pounds on a regular basis. • Comfortable working on a ladder & at heights up to two stories. • Comfortable living out of a hotel up to 3 weeks at a time. • Capable of working in a physically demanding environment for up to 10 hours a day. Job duties: • Cut material to specified lengths. • Paint material either with a paint sprayer or roller as needed. • Use an impact driver to screw together metal braces all day long. • Maintain a clean jobsite as needed. • Follow directions and guidance from Foreman. • If you have a valid drivers license you may be able to share in the driving. What to expect: On our retrofit jobs you will be sent across California. We provide the hotel and do our best to get good comfortable and safe hotels as the area allows. You will be given $35 per day paid in the beginning of the week for your meals. This is non-taxed money above and beyond your hourly wage. At the jobsite the foreman will assign duties to each person to get the most production out of the crew. Every task is important and safety of our workers is very important to us. Our typical jobs last about three weeks. You will leave the Phoenix area about 5:30 AM and travel to the job site. You are paid either minimum wage $13 per hour or ½ your pay rate which ever is greater for travel time as a passenger. If you are asked to drive you will be paid your full rate for the time you are driving. The hours on the jobsite vary with each job. Typically, it is an 8-hour day but may be as much as 10 hours. While out on a job we try to work Saturdays, if possible, to complete the work sooner. You will typically get 50 hours a week. 40 at standard rate and 10 at overtime 1 ½ times your hourly rate. At the end of your three-week trip, you will typically have Saturday-Tuesday off. The other variation is two weeks out with 2 days off Saturday and Sunday. You are provided with the necessary Personal Protective Equipment, gloves, hard hat, safety vest, eye & ear protection. You are expected to come with a cordless Impact Driver, Drill and spare batteries. A corded grinder, screw driver set, some plyers, a knife or blade, 12” & 24” speed square, 2’ level, 25’ &/or 35’ tape measure and a tool belt to hold your tools as well as a bunch of self-tapping screws. We may offer the right candidate the ability for us to purchase tools for you and take a portion of the expense from each of your paychecks. This option we will chose the quality of the tools.
