Ode to trumpeters…

Description

There’s a reason almost every political cartoonist depicts bozo supporters as “slack-jawed yokels”. Because that’s how y’all look and act! Many of the psychologists say that you cannot get the lost trumpeters to come back to reality by beating them with their stupidity for being a supporter. They also say you cannot sway them with the truth because trumpeters refuse to believe anything that contradicts their deeply held personal beliefs. They say that, in some cases, only love and time can reach a few, but it is damn few! The true conundrum is that most of them are not intelligent enough to assimilate the information, to realize they’re not smart enough to know how lacking they are in reasoning and logical thinking. Two terms: Cognitive Dissonance: According to this theory, when two actions or ideas are not psychologically consistent with each other, people do all in their power to change them until they become consistent. The discomfort is triggered by the person's mis-held personal beliefs clashing with new information perceived, wherein they try to find a way to resolve the contradiction to reduce their discomfort, while holding on to their personal feelings. Dunning-Krueger Effect: The psychological phenomenon of illusory superiority was identified as a form of cognitive bias in Kruger and Dunning's 1999 study "Unskilled and Unaware of It: How Difficulties in Recognizing One's Own Incompetence Lead to Inflated Self-Assessments". I present this information for the few that are actually interested in educating themselves out of the rabbit hole.
