Position: General Maintenance Worker Department: Youth Services Reports to: Program Director Hours: 25-35 hours per week Salary: $16.00 FLSA: Non-Exempt Program Dates: 8 weeks Locations: Gaylord White Community Center Jefferson Community Center Position Summary: The Art Coordinator will be responsible for program development, activity facilitation, and classroom and team management to ensure activities are interesting and meet program criteria. Responsibilities: • Oversee alignment of program activities with arts programming that utilizes strong Youth Development standards. Supervise all activities to ensure standards are met. • Assist in the facilitation of curriculum development and ensure curriculum alignment at all sites. • Ensure all areas are prepared to be utilized and assist in creating a programming calendar. • Arts Coordinator engages participants in interactive art projects in a variety of mediums including but not limited to: graph arts, drawing, painting, jewelry making, etc. • Engage participants in interactive workshops in healthy decision-making techniques. • Provide extra program support as needed. • Lead workshops and training sessions in their area of expertise to meet the needs of participants and staff. • Supervise and input developmentally appropriate activities for participants in areas of visual arts. • Conduct ongoing program assessment to ensure that each activity is well attended and make changes as necessary. • Create weekly attendance logs to be reviewed at weekly leader meetings. • Attend program meetings and professional development workshops as coordinated by program leadership. • Work cooperatively with staff, participants, and parents as needed. • Participate in special events, staff meetings and trips as required. • Additional duties as assigned by Program Director, Operations Manager, Associate Director of Intervention and Prevention Services and Director of Youth Services. Qualifications: • HS Diploma or equivalent with a strong teaching background in Dance/Drama • At least 3 years’ experience teaching in chosen field at a high level. • Demonstrated experience of excellence in chosen field. • Ability to plan and execute dynamic exhibits, closing programs, or demonstration of concepts learned. • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred. • Strong verbal, written, organizational, and problem-solving skills. • Demonstrated ability to perform multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced, challenging, and constantly changing environment. • Innovation and patience. • Experience and/or interest in working with youth ages 13-24. • Demonstrated understanding of the challenges facing youth in an urban setting. • Candidates must complete successful background, criminal records, fingerprinting, and reference checks.
