This is a weekly protest Block party centering on Black LGTBQ Joy and resilience. Free food, DJ, performances, and political education.
Nellie's owner would rather shut down for a month then apologize to a young Black woman. We are shaking ass and uplifting freedom cause Black joy is resistance. Meet us at 9th and U st at 8 pm.
For the past month organizations such as Harriets Wildest Dreams, Ward 1 Mutual Aid, Palm Collective, Stop Police-Terror Project, and our new partner HIPS DC, have been holding Doug Shantz and Nellies accountable for abuses against Keisha Young and history of racism in Ward 1. We have intervened at this moment to uplift the resilience and power of Black grassroots organizations against white LGBT gatekeepers like Doug Shantz. In spite of the media's initial attempts to erase the work of Black women, GNC, and femmes in the boycott , we have successfully shifted that narrative!!
