We want to help everyone buy & restore historic houses in Albany, preserving architecture, preventing vacancy, and empowering our residents Meeting 3 - Tuesday July 27th 5.30-6.30pm - Overcoming Problems in a Restoration & Incorporating Salvage Material > Overcoming Problems in the Restoration Process with Joseph WoolridgeJoin Joseph Woolridge as he chats about his ongoing restoration journey with former Land Bank property 49 Park Ave. When Joseph bought the building it was in objectively tough shape, uninhabitable and with major structural issues. Joseph has been on a 2+ year journey to keep this building standing and to restore it to become a home, facing several problems along the way including a change of architects, timing . Learn from someone who has done (and still is) doing the work. > Retaining Patina in Building Rehabs: Incorporating Salvage Material with Kim Alvarez. Join Kim Alvarez, historic preservation consultant, principal of Landmark Consulting and Historic Albany Foundation board member, as she presents examples of architectural salvage reused in projects both personal and those of her clients to achieve and retain historic and period-appropriate character. Many of these salvaged architectural parts have come from our very own Warehouse including radiators, windows, doors, plumbing & lighting fixtures, brackets, trim, and countless unusual and unique items! August - More details TBA Historic Albany Foundation, with the support of the City of Albany, and the Albany County Land Bank are once again excited to be putting on the Restoration Faire, helping you to buy and restore historic houses in the city. This year we have grown the program, offering 4 events from the Steam Garden, Albany (279 Central Ave, Albany, NY 12206). As in previous years, this program is free and open to the public. Please sign up via Eventbrite and indicate whether you are attending in person or virtually. The meetings will take place on every month from May-Aug (see dates below) and will feature different expert speakers who will give short presentations followed by Q and As. Please note, we have an ongoing Facebook group ‘Buying & Restoring Historic Houses in Albany’ that provides support and information year-round.
