Description

Question, Persuade, & Refer: Suicide Prevention Training Question, persuade, and refer: three simple steps that anyone can learn to help save a life from suicide. Just as people trained in CPR and the Heimlich maneuver help save thousands of lives each year, people trained in QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis then how to question, persuade, and refer someone to help. The Lawrence County Community Foundation has provided the funding so that Lawrence County Residents may have the opportunity to become equipped to help in preventing death by suicide. QPR is a training that anyone can take. The only pre-qualification is to be someone who cares about your fellow human and having a desire to prevent death by suicide. QPR fulfills the Indiana Department of Education requirement for staff in need of suicide prevention training and a certificate of completion will be provided at the conclusion of the training.Covid-19 Considerations: The venue has sufficient seating and space to allow for participants to observe social distancing. The trainer is vaccinated and will not be masked. Unvaccinated participants may choose to mask but it is not mandatory. Trainer: Sara Kleber-Lowery will be providing the training and has been a QPR Instructor since 2018. She has been the System of Care Coordinator for Lawrence County since 2016 and has been working with youth and families at Centerstone since 2014.
