Join Greenbelt Alliance as we explore Berkeley's fascinating rock parks! We'll visit seven small parks centered on large volcanic rock outcroppings featuring fine vistas, quintessential Berkeley neighborhoods with beautiful gardens and architecture, and quaint pedestrian paths and stairways. This walk is featured in Berkeley Walks, co-authored by hike leader Bob Johnson and Janet Byron. Note: this outing is in-person. We're excited to see you in Berkeley! TOTAL DISTANCE This is a moderately strenuous hike of about five miles round trip with 1100 feet in elevation gain. Option to ascend some rock outcrops for views; most of our walking will be on city sidewalks. LEADER Bob Johnson WEATHER POLICY Heavy rain cancels COST Free; Reservations Required WHERE TO MEET We'll assemble on the northeast corner of Solano Avenue and The Alameda in North Berkeley. The area is served by some AC Transit lines from downtown Berkeley or other locations. Street parking is available but check the street signs. NOTES Bring sunscreen, lunch, and water.
