Art, Books, Gospel, Jazz, and good food are a winning combination. Come in and peruse the wares by local authors and artists!
For this special event, Bread of Life Community Baptist Church has recruited Jason Davis, one of the baddest saxophone players around, to bring his trio to Kansas City to perform for this event! His music and vibe will provide the perfect backdrop. Come out and peruse or purchase one-of-a-kind merchandise from local artists who will be selling everything from custom rings and pendants, to books and visual art.
Or you could just be one those people coming to hear spoken word. Yes, that's right, this event will have poetry and more, too. And you want to know the best thing about it? It's free! We only ask a $9.99 donation if you are wanting to eat, but the food is not a prerequisite. You don't have to pay at the door; you can just come in, listen to the music and spoken word. Regardless, your presence is requested. The brunch menu will be sent out two weeks prior to the happenings.
If you are interested in being a vendor, send an email to [email protected] with the subject heading, BOOTH; spokenword artists who are interested in performing should send an email to the same address with the subject heading, SPOKENWORD.
This event explores the history of FDR and the black community, particularly during the New Deal when Blacks began trending toward the Democratic Party. It will also host a discussion between Democrats and Republicans regarding which party is best for the black community. Representatives for both sides will be asked both pre-set questions and questions generated from the audience.
