Description
The FODC and MUB rain barrel workshop is back and socially distanced! Learn about storm water and leave with your own rain barrel! Friends of Deckers Creek and Morgantown Utility Board are joining forces again to hold two summer rain barrel workshops! For the purchase of one registration, you will receive a food-grade rain barrel and a universal diverter kit, normally a $75-$100 value. During the workshop FODC and MUB staff will teach you how to assemble and install the barrel. One registration purchase will equal one barrel and kit per person/group registered. Spots are limited so please don't wait to register - last year's workshops sold out hours after registration opened. The event will take place in a large garage bay with the main door and side door fully open. Social distance will be maintained and masks are strongly encouraged. FAQs What if I miss the workshop? We understand - things happen. However, if you miss the workshops for which you are scheduled, you will be invited to attend another of the other scheduled workshops. If you are not free any of the remaining workshop dates, we apologize, but we will be unable to accommodate refunds or special pick-up dates. Do I have to attend the whole workshop to receive the barrel? Yes. You will have a chance to learn about rain barrel installation and stormwater runoff. We cannot provide a barrel unless you are present for the entire workshop. What are my transport/parking options getting to the event? Please bring a vehicle large enough to bring your barrels home. There will be free parking at the event. Upon arrival at the Morgantown Utility Board facility off of Green Bag Road, please pull through the gates and park in the designated parking area. Can you deliver the barrels? No, we are unable to deliver the barrels. Please bring a vehicle large enough to transport a barrel that holds around 55 gallons of water. We have seen barrels fit in the backseat of 4-door sedans (e.g. Toyota Corolla); however, if going in the backseat, bring a blanket because the barrels may be dusty/dirty. What should I bring to the event? Yourself! Also, please bring a vehicle large enough to transport a 55 gallon barrel. We cannot deliver barrels. Where can I contact the organizer with any questions? Contact Friends of Deckers Creek at [email protected] or at 304-292-3970 with any questions. Is my registration/ticket transferrable? You can transfer your registration up to a week before the workshop. Email [email protected]. What is the refund policy? We are unable to accommodate refunds. Can more than one person from my household come to the workshop? Not this year, we are trying to be COVID conscious of how many people come to the event, we want to be sure to have plenty of room for safe social distancing. Can I register twice to receive two barrels? Please only one registration per household per workshop. We hope to provide as many people with the opportunity to get barrels as we possibly can. If you are interested in getting multiple barrels, please contact [email protected] to make future arrangements. Do I have to wear a mask? Masks are highly encouraged vaccinated or unvaccinated. The workshop will take place in a large garage with an open bay door and side doors to get the best ventilation. We will be socially distanced and will cap the event at 15 attendees. According to the CDC if you are not vaccinated you should wear a mask in public settings when surrounded by people who do not live in your household.
