WAKEFIELD, MA — Another week in the books in Wakefield. Let's see what's happening in town: Top stories The biggest story of the week was an extension of the biggest story from last week — that I-95 standoff with the Rise of the Moors suspect. Patch was first to report on details revealed by Chief Steven Skory to Town Council Monday night: Authorities took down nine of the suspects with a sonic blast. The story was then picked up by several other news outlets. Probably of more local importance was the town engineer saying the Broadway crossing could be reopened around Labor Day. Wakefield will even regain its "quiet zone" status when it does. The crossing has been closed since last fall and the town has been in a back-and-forth with the Federal Railroad Administration to bring it up to standard. What's the town saying? The town wants to remind you that you need a permit for a yard sale and how the CodeRED e-Alert system works. What's coming up? There aren't many public meetings in the summer months.
