Description
HINGHAM, MA — A car drove off the road and into a house built by an ancestor of Abraham Lincoln on North Street in Hingham Thursday morning.
Officers responded to 183 North Street after receiving several reports of a car driving into a house at 6:35 a.m.
Police say the 19-year-old driver was not injured and was sitting on the sidewalk when they arrived.
According to a Facebook post, the residents inside the house were asleep at the time and not injured.
The driver said she swerved to avoid a squirrel in the road and drove off the right side of the road, over the sidewalk, and into the front of the house. About half of the car was inside the home.
Police issued her a citation for failing to stay in marked lanes and North Street reopened hours later.
