Confirmed Shark Sighting Off Coast of Cape Cod

CHATHAM, MA — The shark, named James, was seen swimming near North Beach Island in Chatham, according to the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy's Sharktivity app. James was detected around 1. p.m. Friday afternoon by a buoy that monitors shark activity in the area. The great white shark was originally tagged in 2014 and has returned to the Cape every year since. James was reported to be seen off North Beach Island just last month. No beaches have been closed at this time.
