Description

Press release from Andover Public Schools: July 16, 2021 On June 17, 2021 – President Biden signed legislation into law marking June 19th as a federal holiday commemorating the end of slavery in the United States. The holiday will be observed annually. In Massachusetts, the holiday was officially observed for the first time in 2021. We have updated the 2021-22 school year calendar to reflect the Juneteenth observance. The final day of school, with no storm days, is still scheduled for Tuesday, June 14, 2022.  Juneteenth is on Sunday in 2022 and will be observed on Monday, June 20, 2022 by state and federal law. If the superintendent needs to call more than three (3) storm days, this will move the final day of school accordingly. Each April, based on the number of storm days and a recommendation from the superintendent, the School Committee votes on the final day of school.  This press release was produced by Andover Public Schools.
