GLEN COVE, NY — A beach in Glen Cove is closed to bathing after health officials say they found elevated bacteria levels in the water. In an online bulletin posted Friday, Nassau County's Health Department said Morgan Sound will reopen once "testing indicates that (bacteria) samples are within acceptable limits." The department did not specify how much bacteria was found at the beach. Morgan Sound — located on Germaine Street — is one of three Nassau County beaches that were forced to close due to excess bacteria. The other ones are Philip Healey Beach and Biltmore Beach Club in Massapequa.
