WOODBRIDGE, NJ — On Thursday, Woodbridge and Avenel firefighters responded to a possible chemical gas leak and chemical gas fumes reported inside an Avenel warehouse.
Avenel firefighters responded to a call of gases leaking from a 55-gallon drum inside the warehouse. Firefighters said they did not know the exact chemicals causing the odor, but it was a mixture of two to three chemicals inside one container.
The warehouse is located on Omar Avenue. The Middlesex County Haz-Mat team also responded. Crews mitigated the issue and cleared the scene within a couple hours. There were no injuries.
Colonia Fire and Hopelawn Fire companies also assisted.
