PRINCETON, NJ — Over the past two weeks, residents of Princeton and the Mercer County area participated in the ETS Firecracker 5K and helped raise over $20,000 for YWCA Princeton.
The organization that this year, they've exceeded their fundraising goals. Since this year's 5K was virtual, participants got their steps in throughout Mercer County, all the way to Somerset, Kentucky.
The proceeds from this year's event will support YWCA Princeton programs to eliminate racism and empower women, said Kitara Washington, Community Relations Specialist, ETS Center of Advocacy and Philanthropy. "We at ETS are extremely proud to stand with the YWCA Princeton as they strive to meet that very important mission through their work in our community."
YWCA Princeton CEO Tay Walker thanked everyone involved in the event.
"We're grateful for the continued partnership of our longtime supporters at ETS," Walker said. "Our work would not be possible without the sustaining efforts of our community partners, staff, and Board members, and we're able to provide essential services like childcare, ESL classes, and support programs for breast cancer survivors thanks to their efforts."
