OSWEGO, IL — Oswego's School District 308 has a new director of diversity, equity and inclusion for the upcoming school year. The board of education announced Jadon A. Waller's appointment to the role in a release Thursday. Waller began her educational career in 2011 at Chicago's South Shore International College Prep High School as a teacher in the English department. Most recently before joining District 308, she worked as an assistant principal at Dirksen Junior High School in Joliet. "It is a privilege to join the transformative Oswego 308 team," Waller said in a statement. "I look forward to building relationships, making connections, and collaborating with my new colleagues, students, and families as we continue the journey to cultivate diversity, equity, and inclusion in every students' educational path by understanding, validating, and celebrating who they are through rigorous and meaningful instruction and experiences." She earned her bachelor's degree in English with teacher certification from Northern Illinois University. She has a master's degree in educational leadership and a doctorate of education in curriculum and instruction from Concordia University. "Dr. Waller will add to our efforts to improve our climate for learning for all students and staff and increase opportunities for family engagement," Faith Dahlquist, associate superintendent of educational services, said in a statement. "She brings great enthusiasm, administration experience, and fresh ideas to our team." (For more news and information like this, subscribe to the Oswego Patch for free.
