LEMONT, IL — At its Monday meeting, the Lemont High School District 210 Board of Education will consider a resolution to retire the use of Indians, the school's mascot, in reference to activities and athletics. In a statement to Patch, Board President Kurt Korte said the board will consider the resolution, which would discontinue the use of Indians effective at the beginning of the 2021-22 school year, "and to begin phasing out the use of the 'LHS Indians' logo for activities and athletics." "If the resolution is adopted, in the coming months, the District 210 Board of Education will determine whether the school will adopt a new name in reference to its student activities and athletic teams, and if so, the process for selection," Korte said. The board of education will meet at 7 p.m. Monday in the high school's board room, 800 Porter St. For more news and information like this, subscribe to the Lemont Patch for free.
