Sacred Heart Catholic Parish and School Job Description I. POSITION TITLE: Custodial Staff Department: Catholic Schools Grade/Pay Grade 5/D.O.E. Supervisor: Facilities Director II. GENERAL DESCRIPTION Under the supervision of the Facilities Director, the Custodial Staff is instrumental in creating a climate of health and well being in the school by upholding professional standards and diocesan policies. III. WORK SHIFT Hours may change depending on the needs of the parish and school. Monday-Thursday 8:30 am – 4:00 pm (school) Friday 8:30 – 2:00 (school) Saturday 12:00 noon – 6:30 pm (parish) IV. DUTIES OF THE JOB A. Follow school classroom schedule for access to clean in rooms. B. Keep the school and church campus in proper order. C. Weekend shift focus on maintaining church facility order and cleanliness throughout the day. D. Current COVID protocol in place, wipe touch surfaces in church between events and services (i.e. top of pews door knobs and push bars, etc.) E. Ensure school and church spaces are prepared for the next day by taking out trash, sweep and mop floors and vacuum carpets. F. Clean and sanitize toilets, sinks, wipe mirrors and restock soap and paper products using established practices and procedures. Restrooms will need to be checked multiple times a day during school hours. G. Roll trash bin to main dumpster each day to empty. H. Use floor cleaning equipment as required. I. Carry out assigned work orders from Facilities Director. J. Undertake occasional task of shoveling snow, lifting heavy items, 50 lbs., and moving items. K. When scheduled assist with setup of facilities for meetings, conferences and events. L. Use and maintain assigned equipment, report any equipment issues to Facilities Director using proper reporting methods. M. Follow instructions regarding the use of chemical and supplies. Use as directed. N. Assist with inventory control. O. Performs any other job related tasks deemed necessary and/or assigned by the Facilities Director Page 1 of 2 Personnel Form 52 Custodian Job Description V. COMMUNICATION A. Maintains regular communication, as appropriate with Facilities Director, School Principal and maintenance staff. B. Immediately makes Facilities Director or School Principal aware of any issues that could potentially impact the safety or well-being of the students or staff. C. Requests approval from Facilities Director ahead of time of any planned time off and appropriately enters this time in the payroll system. D. Communicate non-emergency safety and maintenance issues to the proper staff, School Principal or Facilities Director. VI. REQUIRED EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS A. Minimum education requirement: High School Diploma or GED equivalent B. Must have current Fingerprint Clearance Card C. Must be in good physical condition; able to lift 50 lbs. D. Must have initiative, creativity, and problem solving skills; judgment in handling different personalities and emerging situations; proficient communication skills with both children and adults; positive attitude in crisis situations and ability to work cooperatively with others. E. Must complete internal compliance training.
