The primary purpose of this position is to work with the office of University Events to execute the planning, preparation, set-up, and teardown of university events on campus (and occasionally off-campus). This includes minor and major events – ranging from small meetings to large multi-facility events serving thousands of people. The secondary purpose of this position is to provide operational support to facilities services (Physical Plant). The work is physical and often requires heavy lifting. Daily tasks will be performed based on the needs of the campus, assigned work orders, and designated projects. To apply for this position, please do so directly on our website here: The Physical Plant is currently hiring for the following shifts: - Thursday through Monday, 11:00 a.m. - 7:30 p.m. - Friday through Tuesday, 11:00 a.m. - 7:30 p.m. Overtime may be required and/or assigned to support University events as needed. The hourly rate for this position is $15.00 per hour. This is a full-time, non-exempt, 12-month position (generally 40 hours per week and overtime over 40 hours will likely be required during certain work weeks based on operational needs) with benefits. Responsibilities: Perform set-up, teardown, and turnover at event locations based on timing of the event; this includes transporting equipment, setting up tents, staging, chairs and tables, changing overall room layouts based on the purpose of the space, etc. Move and set dorm room, office, and classroom furniture as needed to support University operations. May include performing minor furniture repairs. Review and respond to work orders received through the TMA computer system and complete assigned tasks – including any necessary follow-up or customer service. Respond to floods or other emergencies on campus, utilizing carpet extractors, wet/dry vacuums, and other equipment as necessary; may assist with certain floor care tasks and exterior window washing as needed. Proactively support campus facilities and operations, take initiative to identify or request work.
