Do you have a desire to explore yourself through acrylic painting? Do you want to learn playful and visually appealing techniques that will help you communicate your artistic vision? This class will instruct you in the basics of expressionist painting techniques such as glazing, washes, scumbling, and adding texture. You will learn about the great expressionist painters such as Van Gogh and Paul Klee. And, you will discover a wealth of new tools to improve your paintings through use of value, color, and composition. Great for beginners who wish to learn the essentials of painting or for intermediate painters looking to break out of realism. A curriculum can be emailed upon request.
Non-members: $250 for 6 weeks. Members: $200.
Fee does not include materials. A list of recommended supplies can be emailed upon request.
Instructor bio: Anne Schutz is a painter who lives and works in the Greater Portland area. She transforms and interprets Nature’s patterns and design to demonstrate variety of scale, line, form and beauty she observes. Anne received a BS in Studio Art from Skidmore College and a MFA in Painting from Boston University. She has taught art to adults and children regionally.
