Learn to paint loose expressive watercolors in a fun supportive atmosphere. In the first two sessions, students learn to manage the ratio of pigment to water, enabling them to create beautiful washes, brush stokes and value changes. Two of our sessions will be spent exploring the properties of color mixing and color theory. The last two sessions will emphasize composition and emotional impact. At the beginning of each day students will do a series of exercises based on the day’s learning goals, watch a demo, and then work on a painting that involves the class topic. We will try to cover a variety of subjects both from life and photographs, still life, landscape and portraits. Each student will come away with new skills, confidence and paintings that reflect their own unique vision. Non-members: $250 for 6 weeks. Members: $200. Fee does not include materials. A list of recommended supplies can be emailed upon request. About the instructor: Deena S.
