Northwest Airlines Flight 6231 crashed in Harriman State Park on December 1, 1974, just minutes after taking off from Kennedy Airport, on its way to Buffalo. The HSRC invites you to hike with us to the 1974 commercial plane crash site and memorial.
The hike is approximately two miles (one mile in and one mile out). It is rated as moderately difficult and crosses gently rolling terrain. Sturdy footwear is recommended due to some rocky areas.
All hikers must bring their own water and snacks and wear sturdy hiking shoes.
Additional notes:
Space on this hike will be strictly limited to to ensure safety.Participants should bring a mask/facial covering and maintain six feet of social distancing.
A waiting list will be compiled, and spaces that become available will be filled on a first come, first served basis. If interest is high, we will reschedule additional hikes. Please note that only those who have made full payment can be accommodated.
