THE MAPLES – This is one in a series of genus-specific tree-tours sponsored by The Dendro Lab-NYC in Central Park Learn to confidently identify 8 species of native and ornamental maples, in addition to several trees and shrubs commonly confused with maple, including: sweetgum, planetree/sycamore, and viburnums. Observing trees with shared traits at the same time is a great way attune one's eye to their differences. Please note: Meeting spot is across the street from the American Museum of Natural History at the bronze bust of Alexander Von Humboldt at CPW and West 77th Street This entrance to the park is aptly called "Naturalists' Gate." About your guide: Carey is a professional photographer and filmmaker whose first love is natural history.
