BASIC PISTOL COURSE (Not an NRA course) Description: This course introduces the student to the basic fundamentals of pistol marksmanship and the safe use of handguns. Topics include: Handgun safetyRange EtiquetteBasic functioning and operation of handgunsHandgun MalfunctionsEssential skills (Grip, Stance, Aiming, Trigger Control, Hold Control, Breath Control, and Follow Through)We start in the classroom with SIRT laser trainer non-firing pistols to get the student comfortable with handling pistols and learning the essential skills before going to the range to fire their first live shots. We highly recommend that everyone take this course before attending any other pistol course, including the Texas LTC course. It is suitable for first time novices, as well as intermediate pistol shooters. Students will receive a Certificate of Completion upon successful completion of the course. Course Length: Approximately 7.5 Hours What is the refund policy? The only way we know that a class is full is when the specified number of students have registered and paid their tuition fees. Once that class is full, we have to turn away others who would like to attend. If you cancel too close to the class date or fail to show up for class, you keep someone else from attending and cost us a student. Please make sure that you are able to attend a class before signing up. We feel that this is a fair policy to you and all other students, and to us. In order to minimize this, we have strict policies on pre-payment and cancellation. Please note that there is no refund for cancellation less than 7 days before a class. The only exception is if we have to cancel the class due to unforeseen circumstances or if the minimum number of students needed for a class is not met. In those cases only, a full refund will be made. We reserve the right to cancel the class if we don't have a minimum of 6 students registered for the class. Required Equipment: We furnish the student with loaner SIRT laser training pistols for use in the classroom, as well as loaner .22 caliber semi-auto pistols with ammo for the live fire portion on the range. We also furnish electronic hearing protection for use on the range. What to bring: The student must provide their own safety glasses. Bring a hat, water to stay hydrated, closed toe shoes (no sandals or open toed shoes), and a shirt or blouse that can be fully buttoned to prevent hot brass from going down your shirt! Also bring any snacks or drinks for your consumpion during the class.
