Join us for a policy conversation on COVID-19 & a celebration of the Community Health Centers & partners making recovery possible in the OC. The Coalition of Orange County Community Health Centers (Coalition OC) invites you to a policy conversation that will focus on response, recovery and growth from COVID-19 and will culminate in a celebration to highlight the role and tremendous work of Community Health Centers (CHCs) and the existing and new partnerships that allowed the county to begin to recover from the pandemic. CHCs began working immediately and diligently when the pandemic hit to respond to their community’s needs regarding fears and concerns around contracting the virus and continuing its spread. Throughout the last year and a half, CHCs have and continue to lead efforts to offer testing, provide contract tracing and support, provide vaccinations, and shifted to offer telehealth to ensure the safety of patients and staff, all in response to COVID-19. CHCs have served as the safety net of providing health care services and beyond to the communities that have been made vulnerable for decades. As such, the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) has been holding an annual celebration, National Health Center Week, for over 30 years to raise awareness about the mission and accomplishments of America’s health centers over the past five decades. This year, National Health Center Week seeks to honor those front line providers, staff, and beloved patients who lost their lives during the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as those that continue to work non-stop to save lives and find an end to this devastating pandemic. The theme for the 2021 National Health Center Week is "Community Health Centers: The Chemistry for Strong Communities", taking place from August 8 through August 14, 2021, to highlight everything and everyone that has contributed to making recovery possible. As such, on Stakeholder Appreciation Day, we want to highlight the importance of partnerships between providers, community organizations, local leaders, and trusted entities such as schools, grocery stores, and others that came together to address the needs of Orange County in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The event will also address the key policy changes needed to continue recovering and supporting our communities.
