Rockland Asking How To Spend $63M From COVID Funds

ROCKLAND COUNTY, NY — Rockland County is looking for ways to spend $63.18 million it received from the American Rescue Plan. To that end, County Executive Ed Day and Legislature Chairman Alden Wolfe announced the launch of three surveys to gather input on the needs of residents, businesses and community-based organizations. Day said he knows the pandemic has taken a toll on everyone and the county needs to understand their experiences, difficulties and successes. "This federal funding is intended to help all of us fully recover but we need your help to ensure it is spent as effectively as possible," he said. A new webpage was created on Rockland.gov to host the surveys. At that link, participants will be asked to choose one of three surveys: residents, businesses or community organizations. Officials said the surveys will be open until July 25 and are available in English, Spanish, Haitian Creole and Yiddish. The American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 was passed by Congress and signed into law March 11. The $1.9 trillion economic relief package was designed to protect the American people from the public health and economic impacts of the coronavirus pandemic.
