EAST VILLAGE, NY — Marvin Bellamy, 37, was found dead Wednesday in the East Village with a puncture wound to his chest, according to police. The Upper West Side resident was discovered unconscious and unresponsive at 7 a.m. at 1st Avenue and East 6th Street, police said. Emergency services rushed him to Mount Sinai Beth Israel, where he was pronounced dead, according to police. After not initially making a ruling on the death, NYPD announced Thursday morning it was investigating the incident as a homicide. Bellamy lived near Columbus Avenue and West 103rd Street, according to NYPD. A Medical Examiner will perform an autopsy to determine the cause of death. NYPD did not share added details around the puncture wound Bellamy suffered. There are no arrests and the investigation remains ongoing.
