NORWALK, CT — Iron Vault, a "total access" private gym located in Scarsdale, N.Y., is set to open its second location in the South Norwalk area of the city this month. Located on Day Street, the new gym will mark its grand opening with a celebration July 24 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., featuring raffles, food and drinks. Owner Mike Orefice said he always planned to open multiple Iron Vault locations, and South Norwalk seemed like the perfect fit for the gym's brand. According to Orefice, he immediately felt the energy the city had to offer the moment he stepped onto Washington Street. "I think the city itself is very young and up and coming," Orefice said in an email. "We're excited to see more and more new brands [and] companies move into the area." Mayor Harry Rilling said Thursday he was pleased to welcome Iron Vault to the city and looked forward to their opening this month. "Our city is becoming more vibrant by the day, with new businesses, new residents and new public amenities," Rilling said. "It is fantastic to see Iron Vault open in a neighborhood like South Norwalk, where we see many residents out walking and biking, which will only further establish this area as a destination." According to their website, Iron Vault offers guests an amazing training environment and top tier equipment. The gym is a total access facility, which means members receive a key fob that gives them exclusive access to equipment every day from 4 a.m. to midnight. The Norwalk location is also outfitted with brand new, custom-built equipment, which fuels the gym's motto: more than a gym, it's a lifestyle. "Fitness is a lifestyle choice," Orefice said, "but for us, it's more than just that. Our members revolve their lives around the brand because it means so much to them." When it opens, Iron Vault will join a robust roster of local gyms and fitness centers. According to Jessica Vonashek, the city's chief of economic and community development, there are currently 19 gyms in Norwalk, including larger chains like LA Fitness and Planet Fitness as well as more specialty gyms. Iron Vault will also join a lineup of new businesses that have recently opened or will soon open in South Norwalk, including RHK Seafood Boil, Affogato, SoNo Boil, EcoEvolution and Appettit Bistro. "No other gym offers the experiences we offer here," Orefice said. "From the equipment and training environment to the culture of the brand, we pride ourselves on that community we've built."
