Officials said guests will also be able to enjoy five unique ice cream treats as they are guided through the experience. Maryellis Bunn, co-founder and creative director of the museum, said its plans to create an Austin location began in 2016 at the annual South By Southwest Festival. "We knew then that the combination of Austin's love of amazing food, experiences, art and, most importantly, its inclusiveness and welcoming culture would make the city a wonderful home for MOIC," Bunn said. "We could not be more thrilled to continue our mission to spread joy and connection through the universal power of ice cream in Austin." As the years followed, the pop-up eventually followed sold out stints in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Miami and Singapore, officials said. "We started out to build an experience that was truly social, just like ice cream, but never expected to have a 200,000-person waitlist for a pop-up that lasted 45 days," Vora said. "After the challenges of the past two years, it is truly a blessing for us to be able to bring the first new attraction to Austin and the first new Museum of Ice Cream in nearly two years to the city." Officials said the series of immersive activities encourages guests to explore beyond "Instagramable" opportunities and engage all five senses, making it an inclusive experience for all. As a way to give back to the community, The Museum of Ice Cream will partner with local Austin nonprofits to give opportunities to people who would like to experience the magic of MOIC Austin.
