ELMHURST, IL — In the last few days, Elmhurst police responded to calls involving a girl who was followed, harassment, a domestic disturbance, bicycle issues, a stolen flag and converter thefts. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports: Girl followed A girl told police that as she rode her bicycle home from York High School about 1 p.m. Tuesday, a silver sedan followed her. Before she arrived home in the 700 block of Berkley Avenue, the vehicle had turned around. Harassment A resident in the 100 block of Addison Avenue told police Tuesday that she asked a man to no longer contact her. He then proceeded to call her places of employment and went to her house in an attempt to contact her. An officer told the man to cease all contact with the victim. The man agreed to do so. Domestic disturbance A domestic disturbance happened about 8 p.m. Tuesday in the 100 block of North Richard Avenue. A man said he had an argument with a family member. The man said he received four guns from his father, never uses them and wanted to relinquish them until he receives a firearm owner's identification card. The guns were placed into evidence for safekeeping. Bike issues An unlocked black Giant men's mountain bicycle was stolen from a driveway about 9 p.m. Monday in the 200 block of East Crescent Avenue. The suspect discarded a black and red Hyper Shocker men's mountain bike on the victim's driveway. The abandoned bicycle was placed into evidence. A person stole a blue and green Giant brand bicycle about 9 p.m. Tuesday from a garage in the 100 block of East Oneida Avenue. The suspect was described as a white male, 15 to 19 years old, having brown hair, and wearing a gray T-shirt with writing on the front and gray shorts with writing on the left leg. While on patrol at Pioneer Park, 517 Mitchell Ave., an officer saw an abandoned black and yellow mountain bike about 9 p.m. Monday. The officer searched several databases in an attempt to find the owner, but was unsuccessful. Flag stolen A flag pole and an Italian flag were stolen from the front of a house overnight Tuesday in the 300 block of East Church Street. Converter stolen A resident at the Elmcrest Apartments, 150 E. Lake St., told police he heard a power saw outside and saw a person under a car about 4:30 a.m. Tuesday. The suspect entered the passenger side of a dark sedan and left. Officers found out the catalytic converter had been removed. Another converter was stolen from a minivan on Sunday or Monday in the parking lot at the Greencastle senior housing complex, 190 Michigan St. Since last year, the metals in converters have become a lot more valuable. Fraud A resident in the 500 block of Fairview Avenue told police Tuesday that someone used his personal information to open three fraudulent DirecTV accounts. An officer told the man how to protect himself against identity theft.
