Description
CHICAGO HEIGHTS, IL — The Greater Chicago Food Depository (GCFD) is hosting its Summertime Lunch Bus, and will be making stops here in Chicago Heights.
Children and teens 18 and under will receive nutritious meals for free at locations throughout the suburbs during a "grab-and-go" event, while supplies last.
The events will be held at the following locations and days:
Lancing Public Library — 2750 Indiana Ave, Lancing, from 10:45 - 11:45 a.m. Jirtle Park — E. 25th St. and Union Avenue, Chicago Heights, from 11:50 a.m. to 12:20 p.m. Smith Park — W. 14th Place and Ashland Avenue, Chicago Heights, from 1:15- 1:45 p.m. Faith United Methodist Church — 15015 Grant St., Dolton, from 2:20 p.m. to 2:50 p.m. "During the summer, children and teens who receive free and reduced-price meals at school often lack access to food and go hungry," The GCFD said on its website. "We work with community organizations to fill the gap and provide healthy meals through our Lunch Bus and Summer Meal sites. These programs provide children and teens with access to nutritious food in convenient neighborhood sites such as libraries, parks and community centers."
The events will be held every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, now through Aug. 13. Learn more on the Greater Chicago Food Depository's website.
