SMITHTOWN, NY — With scorchers in the forecast, and more hot weather sure to come, Town of Smithtown residents may look to escape the heat. Here are a few ways you can stay cool this summer: Spray Parks The Town of Smithtown has spray parks at: Nesconset Armory Park in NesconsetHoyt Farm in CommackMoriches Park in St. James Pools and Beaches The Town of Smithtown has a pool at Landing Country Club, located at 495 Landing Ave., Smithtown.Town beaches are in Kings Park and Nissequogue. When there is a heat advisory, spray park hours will be extended as long as staff is available. Hours will usually be extended until 7 p.m. in the event of a heat advisory. The Town will notify residents if spray park hours are being extended through notifications on the Town App, which can be downloaded on the App Store and Google Play Store for free. There is no cooling center open, currently. However, in the event of blackouts caused by the heat, the supervisor will meet with the director of the Senior Center and the director of Public Safety to discuss having the Senior Center act as a cooling center, according to the town.
