PHOENIX, AZ — The Arizona Diamondbacks are hosting a Native American Recognition Day at downtown's Chase Field on Sunday. The event, which coincides with the team's matinee against the Chicago Cubs, aims to recognize Native American communities in the U.S. Southwest, through cultural and educational displays and exhibits, the team said. In addition, the team will host a pregame ceremony on the field, starting at 11:30 a.m., where the D-backs will recognize multiple Native American tribes in the region. The game's ceremonial first pitch, National Anthem rendition and color guard display will all be carried out by members of the Native American community, the team said. The team will also host a series of youth baseball camps, traveling to the Gila River, Colorado River, White Mountain Apache and Pascua Yaqui reservations later this year. Tickets for the D-backs' Native American Recognition Day can be purchased here, ahead of the team's 1:10 p.m. contest on Sunday against the Cubs.
