If you are white, you do benefit from what happened 250 years ago. If you are black or native, you continue to suffer from what happened 250 years ago. This is not a difficult concept. Removing statues of traitors and human garbage is not an attempt to erase history. It is a statement that we refuse to honor those bad people. Germany is not trying to pretend that the Third Reich did not happen, but they sure as hell are not going to leave statues of Hitler and Goebbels left standing, as though they are heroes. This is not a difficult concept. Try thinking beyond the end of your nose.
