Knife River has an immediate opening for a Asphalt Service Tech/Backup Operator in the Mid-Willamette Valley, Oregon. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: - Ability to operate and maintain all asphalt plants in the Northwest region. Areas of responsibility would include but not limited to: Redmond, Troutdale, Sherwood, Salem, Corvallis, Eugene and Portable plants. - Taking orders for production, preventive maintenance, fabrication and repairs. - Operate machinery needed for production of Asphalt or Recycled Asphalt. Nothing in this job summary restricts the manager's right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time. This position will require overtime and weekend work, night shifts and travel when work load requires. Minimum Qualifications: - Experience in the safe and efficient operation of a loader, asphalt plant and service truck. - Must have strong mechanical and fabrication skills as well as basic computer knowledge. - Welding certification preferred but not required. - Must be able to work effectively and safely in confined spaces and heights. - Ability to operate and monitor multiple controls systems for the production of a quality product, while maintaining customer and co-worker relations in a positive and productive manner. - Able to lift, climb, and perform a wide range of physical tasks. - Must be a highly motivated self-starter with the drive to expand job knowledge and skills, with the ability to perform all described duties in a high pressure environment. - Must have and maintain a valid driver's license in good standing. - Travel Required. - Ability to work days, nights, weekends, and long shifts as work requires.
