The Clatskanie Farmers Market invites you to Bee Education Day after hours, an outdoor movie screening in Checkmate Park! Social hour begins at 8pm and the film promptly at 9pm, with a screen time of 86 minutes. Seating will be provided. QUEEN OF THE SUN: What Are the Bees Telling Us? is a profound, alternative look at the global bee crisis from Taggart Siegel, director of THE REAL DIRT ON FARMER JOHN. Taking us on a journey through the catastrophic disappearance of bees and the mysterious world of the beehive, this engaging and ultimately uplifting film weaves an unusual and dramatic story of the heartfelt struggles of beekeepers, scientists and philosophers from around the world including Michael Pollan, Gunther Hauk and Vandana Shiva. Together they reveal both the problems and the solutions in renewing a culture in balance with nature. We will be serving Beestly Organic Honey Porter generously donated by HUB, organic hard champagne cider, The Wild Locals Jun, Tilthworks leavened sourdough bread, and spreads from The Wild Locals. All food & beverage complimentary with your ticket purchase. The Clatskanie Farmers Market will BEE accepting donations at this event. As a non-profit organization we depend on fundraising/donations to sustain the important work we do in supporting our local farmers, makers, & artisans. In supporting local organic agriculture we are also supporting our pollinators, which is what this night is all about!
