Columbus Gives Back invites you to join Community Refugee & Immigration Services (CRIS) for one of the coolest community projects around! Columbus Gives Back invites you to join Community Refugee & Immigration Services (CRIS) for one of the coolest community projects you can find. After a spectacular experience painting in several other schools across Columbus, CRIS is working with staff and students from Westerville North and volunteers like you to transform their space into a welcoming mural! Below is a sample of what it looks like, the final product consisting of about 400 puzzle pieces that each need its own flag or motivational word in the schools colors! *** Disclaimer: You do not need to be an artist to volunteer! *** When: Wednesday, July 21, 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM Event Leaders: [email protected] Where: Westerville North High School, 950 County Line Rd, Westerville, OH 43081 COVID-19 Precautions: In an effort to keep our volunteers, event leaders, and non-profit partners safe, all Columbus Gives Back volunteers are required to wear face masks and observe social distancing as appropriate to complete volunteer tasks. Volunteers who are sick, especially with fever or the growing number of Covid-19 symptoms, should stay home. We highly recommend that our volunteers wash their hands, use hand sanitizer at the beginning and end of the event, and/or wear gloves. We will follow whatever safety policy our nonprofit partners have in addition to the safety precautions listed above. Any volunteers determined to neglect these precautions and put other volunteers or the people we serve at risk will be dismissed from the event. Additionally, if you were exposed before or test positive for Covid-19 after having participated in a CGB event, please contact the event leader or reach out to [email protected] so that we can best support contact tracing efforts. What to Bring: Please wear clothing you do not mind getting some paint on. The prep work will almost entirely be complete, so all you will really have to do is paint in the lines. We encourage you to bring water bottles (school shuts off water because of COVID) and any snacks are welcome, too! About CRIS: Community Refugee & Immigration Services (CRIS) is an independent non-profit organization and refugee resettlement agency that resettles individuals and families from all over the world and serves the growing refugee and immigrant populations in Central Ohio with a tremendous amount of programs. About Columbus Gives Back: Columbus Gives Back coordinates group volunteer events with local non-profits, organizes philanthropic happy hours to raise support and awareness for our non-profit partners, and participates in other philanthropic events while emphasizing our social twist: to have fun with volunteers new and old during and after events in the hopes of creating a culture of community engagement amongst our target audience of young professionals. #SocialTwist: We have begun re-introducing social twists, where we invite volunteers to hang out with us after an event to have fun doing something local! As of May1st, outdoor social twists will be coordinated at the discretion of event leaders and volunteers. If you have questions or concerns, please contact your event leader or [email protected].
