The purpose of “JOBS NOT GUNS” is to assist in CREATING JOBS! by providing employment opportunities resulting in reducing gun violence.
The purpose of “JOBS NOT GUNS” is to assist in CREATING JOBS! by providing an opportunity for businesses, developers, general contractors, etc. doing business in the District with access to jobs for District residents to reduce gun violence incidents in the District of Columbia. The fair will host 50 exhibitors to (1) recruit District residents for employment, training or supportive services and (2) identify subcontractors for subcontracting opportunities that will provide employment or on-the-job training for District residents. Exhibitors will include:
• Employers to provide list of job openings and conduct individual on-the-spot interviews of applicants for employment;
• Building trades unions will be accepting resumes and applications for apprenticeship training;
• District-funded and private job-readiness training providers to recruit and refer trainees for employment;
• Social/Supportive service programs to recruit and refer provide support to District residents;
• District/Federal agencies to recruit District residents for employment.
