Join us for the second of two Trails & Ales Wildflower Hikes with Clear Creek Extension Master Gardeners Wildflower Hike Pass Lake trail is approximately a 1-mile hike, but we will be making stops along the way. It is an easy to moderate hike with minimal climbing and possibly some muddy spots. wear sturdy shoes (there is some mud in the lower areas and some minimal climbing)bring water, snacks & sunscreendress in layers (can be very windy and cool up on these high mountain passes)Please RSVP at the CSU Extension Eventbrite: This is a small group experience limited to 12 hikers. Location The Pass Lake Trail is located on the Summit County side of Loveland Pass. If this parking lot is full there is additional parking in a pull-off on Hwy 6 across from the drive for the trailhead parking. Use these GPS coordinates to navigate to the parking area where we will be meeting: 39.65524493027601, -105.8781251703414Please meet at 9:15 am. We will start the hike at 9:30, and finish by noon. Ales In the past we've made this a trails & ales experience. Join us for ales after the hike if you wish. The group will decide which brewery to regroup at after the hike for those who would like to join. Rain Date: Tuesday, August 3rd If rain is very likely or thunderstorms are in the forecast during the hours of our hike (approximately 9:30am-12pm) we will make the call to cancel, the morning of the hike, by 7am. Please register with an email address and cell phone so that we can reach you by email and text if we have to reschedule to the rain date. We will send an email at 7am on hike days confirming if the hike is still on.. If we have to move to a rain date and you're not available, please let us know so we can allow the next person on the waitlist to take your place. Waitlist We will have a waitlist on Eventbrite. Wildflower Guidebooks Get our updated guidebook, Alpine and Subalpine Wildflowers of Clear Creek County, CO to use during the hike. Learn how to identify wildflowers using the guidebook with guidance from our Master Gardener volunteers. The guide is complete with over 180 Native Plants of Clear Creek County with full-color photos and descriptions, info on how our plants have adapted for our high altitude and harsh growing conditions, a glossary for plant terms, and more.
