SARASOTA, FL — The city of Sarasota has been named one of the top 10 Best Places to live in the U.S. in 2021-22 by U.S. News & World Report. The Sarasota area is No. 9 on the annual list, which ranks metro areas based on job market, housing affordability, quality of life, desirability and net migration ratings. "Sarasota has a distinct vibe that's different from Florida's relative coastal cities, with its own vibrant arts scene, beachy atmosphere and burgeoning food culture. People who choose Sarasota as their home are generally called by its unique charm," according to U.S. News & World Report. The listing noted Siesta Key Village and St. Armands Circle as areas worth visiting, as well as the "up-and-coming" Rosemary District. Related: Sarasota Named 'Best Place To Retire In The U.S.' Sarasota also landed on two other top 10 lists from U.S. News & World Report, ranking No. 2 among Fastest-Growing Places in the U.S. and No. 5 on the list of Safest Places to Live in the U.S. In January, it was named the "Best Place to Retire in the U.S." "These are incredible honors for our community, but they only affirm what we already know: That this is a wonderful place that has something truly special to offer for everyone," Mayor Hagen Brody said in a news release from the city.
