Join our community volunteer meetup this month as we help Health in the Hood build a vegetable garden on Sunday, 7/25! Serve with Love. Join us as we help Health in the Hood, a local non-profit, connect urban communities to wellness by building vegetable gardens. We will meet as a group to help build a vegetable garden in what is known as a food desert. Come prepared to work, shovel, and build! Time: 9:30-11:30AM Location: 675 Alibaba Avenue Opa Locka, FL (near big mural by the street) Limited spots. Please make sure to attend if you sign up. About: Health in the Hood is a non-profit with a mission to provide equal food access for all. Founded by Executive Director, Asha Walker in 2013, Health in the Hood set out to connect communities to wellness with a simple idea. Local vegetable gardens to feed and inform communities in need. What they do: End food insecurity in underserved neighborhoods Build urban vegetable farms Distribute free produce Teach nutrition and fitness Establish sustainable local food ecosystems ABOUT SAM REYNOLDS Sam Reynolds is the brains behind Cafe Namaste™. She is an international yoga teacher, entrepreneur, consultant, and photographer based in Miami, Florida. Prior to yoga, Sam lived overseas for six years in the Czech Republic, South Africa, and Rwanda working in higher education and international development for a non-profit that empowers orphaned teens. In addition to working with large donors and organizations, her greatest role was being a mentor to 16 young girls. After trekking the globe, Sam realized that at the very core of being human is the desire for meaningful connections. She founded Cafe Namaste to help people feel empowered, inspired to bring yoga off the mat. In addition to the events, Sam offers volunteer programs to engage the community in service, or seva. She holds a Master's degree in International Administration from the University of Miami and is an experienced E-RYT200 yoga teacher certified through the Yoga Alliance.
