Description
Join us for a special edition of LAB Talks hosted at Galleria in collaboration with their FloralPop: A Blooming Transformation experience. Description Moderated by Twin Cities icon, Robyne Robinson (five X five art consultants) with Kate Arends (Wit & Delight), Gladys Tay and Jay Nuhring (Jay Nuhring Interior Styling). If there is anything the past year has taught us, it’s that our homes and communities matter. They are essential to our well-being and who we are. We have also learned the power of art and color inside and outside the home. There’s no better way to tell your story than with art. There’s no better way to improve your wellbeing than with color. Both art and color can alter how you feel and experience space. The impact of these two design elements is important to consider in your home as well as your community. This candid conversation with acclaimed local designers, artists and color-enthusiasts will provide plenty of inspiration and insight into how you can thoughtfully bring art and color into your home! Robyne Robinson Robyne has had a commanding presence in the Minnesota Arts community as an entrepreneur, advocate, award-winning journalist, designer and consultant. She is a true Twin Cities icon. During her tenure as Art Director and fiveXfive Art Consultant at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, Minnesota received more than $5 million in art commissions for performances, displays and art installations created by Minnesota and Upper Midwest artists. Her curation work in public, performance and visual arts garnered praise from The New York Times, Forecast Public Art and from International travel bloggers because of her focus on promoting local and regional artists. Robyne created an Emmy-winning platform for Minnesota Arts during her years as a TV news anchor-reporter that garnered interest from news outlets like the BBC and Variety. She also made financial education and business development in the arts one of her key initiatives as a 2010 candidate for Lt. Governor of Minnesota. Robyne has served on numerous arts boards including the Walker Art Center, Minneapolis College of Art and Design (MCAD) and the Minnesota Museum of American Art, where she served as Board Chair. She is also a University of Minnesota Hubert Humphrey Public Policy Fellow, who traveled to New Zealand and Australia with the Humphrey Institute to participate in national talks on reparations to the Indigenous people of both countries. Robyne has been a respected jewelry designer for more than a decade. Her ROX Jewelry line is sold by shopping networks, major department stores and museums such as the Studio Museum in Harlem, the Plains Art Museum, Lewis Museum of Maryland, the Walker and the Minneapolis Institute of Arts. @fivexfiveartpublicartconsultants | fiveXfive art consultants | @roxmplsjewelry Kate Arends A designer by trade and a self-taught writer and currently renovating a colorful fixer-upper, Kate is the founder of Wit & Delight. Through visual imagery, Gladys hopes by sharing her creative contents, love of new and old objects will inspire people to have fun and live outside the box. Her signature design expands into large scale mural installations nationwide, collaborations, and product design. @gladystay | Gladys Tay Jay Nuhring A part of the Minneapolis art scene for years as an art creator and owner of the now-defunct ReSee Gallery, which was in operation from the early to late 2000's in the North Loop's Colonial Warehouse building.
