After nearly five years as executive director of Medfield TV, Brett Poirier will depart the local cable station on Friday, July 23 for a job in the private sector. During his time leading Medfield TV, Poirier and the team achieved a number of accomplishments, including: Creation of the first-ever Halloween drive-through event at Medfield State Hospital, as well as co-creation of the recent Winter Lights festival with Cultural Alliance of Medfield;Earning 2020 and 2019 MassAccess Creator Finalist Awards for Mario Cart and Medfield State Hospital Driving Tour productions, respectively;Launch of original programs including the syndicated Mike Paige Doodle Club and the Mental Health Monday series;Coverage of annual town events including Rolling Rally, MEMO Summer Concerts, Medfield Day, Memorial Day and Holiday Parade.Regular coverage of Annual Town Meetings, Board of Selectmen and School Committee meetings, as well as other town meetings, school concerts and sporting events.Philanthropic activity at the station, including hosting an annual St. Baldrick's Foundation event (complete with his own head-shaving) to support pediatric cancer research.Engagement of high school students in Medfield TV productions.As a public access station, under Poirier's leadership the Medfield TV team also worked with a variety of community members on the creation of grassroots productions free of charge. Based on the reactions from Medfield residents upon hearing the news of Poirier's pending departure, all expressed appreciation for the time and energy he has spent to become involved in the community and support town affairs.
